Amazon Dark Mode

Dark mode has become a sought-after feature in the digital world, offering a sleek design that’s easier on the eyes, particularly in low-light conditions. However, setting up dark mode can vary from platform to platform.

This comprehensive guide will provide detailed instructions on how to activate Amazon Dark Mode on various devices, including PCs, iPhones, Androids, and Amazon tablets, as well as via browser extensions and on Firefox.

Amazon Dark Mode

Activating Amazon Dark Mode on PC

As of my knowledge cutoff in September 2021, Amazon’s website does not offer a built-in dark mode feature. However, you can achieve dark mode on your PC by using browser extensions:

For Google Chrome and Firefox:

  1. Install the ‘Dark Reader’ extension available on the Chrome Web Store or Firefox Add-ons.
  2. After installation, an icon will appear at the top-right corner of your browser. Click on it.
  3. Turn on the ‘Dark mode’ switch.

The extension should apply a dark theme to all websites, including Amazon.

How to Set Amazon Dark Mode on iPhone (iOS)

Again, Amazon’s app does not natively support dark mode. But, you can make use of the iOS dark mode feature:

  1. Go to ‘Settings’ on your iPhone.
  2. Tap on ‘Display & Brightness’.
  3. Select the ‘Dark’ option.

This will apply dark mode across all apps and interfaces that support it. However, it may not affect the appearance of the Amazon app.

Setting Amazon Dark Mode on Android

Android’s system-wide dark mode can make the Amazon app appear in dark mode if it supports it:

  1. Go to ‘Settings’ on your Android device.
  2. Tap on ‘Display’.
  3. Tap on ‘Dark theme’ or ‘Night mode’ to enable it.

As with iOS, this will apply dark mode across all compatible apps and interfaces, but the appearance of the Amazon app may remain unchanged.

Amazon Dark Mode Extension

Extensions like ‘Dark Reader’ for Chrome and Firefox can apply a dark theme to all websites, including Amazon:

  1. Install ‘Dark Reader’ from the Chrome Web Store or Firefox Add-ons.
  2. Once installed, click the ‘Dark Reader’ icon at the top-right corner of your browser.
  3. Turn on the ‘Dark mode’ switch.

This will transform the bright, white backgrounds of websites into darker shades.

Setting Amazon Dark Mode on Firefox

Firefox users can use the ‘Dark Reader’ add-on to enable dark mode for Amazon:

  1. Go to Firefox Add-ons and search for ‘Dark Reader’.
  2. Click ‘Add to Firefox’ to install it.
  3. Once installed, click the ‘Dark Reader’ icon at the top-right of your browser.
  4. Toggle on the ‘Dark mode’ switch.

The add-on will apply a dark theme to all websites, including Amazon.

How to Get Dark Mode on Amazon Tablet

Amazon Fire tablets run Fire OS, a custom version of Android. As of my last update in September 2021, Fire OS does not natively support a system-wide dark mode.

If this changes in the future, you will likely find the setting under ‘Display’ options in the ‘Settings’ app.

In conclusion

While Amazon’s website and app do not offer a built-in dark mode as of September 2021, you can use browser extensions like ‘Dark Reader’ to achieve a dark mode on your PC or Firefox.

For iPhones, Androids, and Amazon tablets, system-wide dark mode settings can be enabled, but these might not affect the Amazon app’s appearance. Please check for updates, as Amazon may add this feature in the future.
